Mario Kart 64 was a game I only really got to play at the orthodontist whenever I went to get my braces adjusted. The opending chord at the title screen was the loudest thing ever and it never failed to grab my attention. I was raised musically by my dad's tastes, a lot of brass heavy music of big bands, Maynard Ferguson, the Stan Kenton Orchestra, Earth Wind and Fire, and others. This track was my way of blending those two parts of my childhood, but with the musical language of adult me.
