Maria Palaroan is a first year undergraduate student at San Francisco State University. Maria has been singing for as long as she can remember, and has participated in a variety of choirs starting in the fourth grade to present day. Some of these choirs include her church choir, which she sang in throughout middle school, her high school Chorale, Cecilian, and Chamber choirs—which she sang in from freshman year to senior year—as well as her high school Vocal Jazz ensemble, which performed and competed at both the New Generation Monterey Bay Jazz Festival and the Reno Jazz Festival. Maria enjoys singing in a large array of genres, such as jazz acapella or jazz ballads, contemporary music, and classical pieces.
Maria’s vocal range can accommodate first/ second alto, and occasionally second soprano, but prefers singing as a first alto, as she is most comfortable in that part of her range. Some strong points about Maria’s voice are its steadiness and cleanness; she’s also confident in stylizing as well. Maria’s love for singing can only be matched by her love for food, and though she still has a lot to learn, is confident in her abilities as a singer.
